Telefunken Ela M250/251
The magnificent masterpiece from AKG
- the Ela M250 and Ela M251 were custom-made by AKG for Telefunken in the late 1950s
- stylish design with a 'pebble grey' lacquered metal housing
- both ‘Elam’ models identical except for the additional figure-8 characteristic of the 251
- same capsule (CK12) and transformer (Haufe T14/1) as in the AKG C12
- inimitable interplay of beautiful presence and clear, silky highs. Compared to the C12 more presence and a more moderate top end
- three Ela M250s (with AC701) from the 1960s available for hire. On one model, the defective switch has been replaced with a new one, which – as with the 251 – also allows the figure-8 pattern to be adjusted
- manufacturing period: 1959-mid-1960s
Favourite applications: One of the world's most popular (and most copied) vocal microphones ever! Also ideal for various acoustic instruments (acoustic guitar, double bass, percussion)
